Pilgrim Walks and Psalm Reflections
A spiritual pilgrimage walking the Camino de Santiago - Primitivo Route & Ingles Route.
Reciting, Recording and Reflecting on the Book of Psalms.
Follow the journey and find inspiration for your own spiritual walk.

My Pilgrimage
There is one destination of the pilgrimage, but many routes to get there as this pilgrimage has become important to people coming from many different directions. I am flying from Dallas to Madrid and taking the train north to Oviedo, Spain. There I begin my fourteen-day journey on Camino Primitivo which is the original route of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. After completing the Camino Primitivo Route and a couple days of relaxed exploration of the Coast of Northwestern Spain, I will walk the Camino Ingles which is the five-day route taken by most English pilgrims beginning from the port of Ferrol. The two pilgrim routes total over 275 miles.

Reciting the Psalms on the Way of St. James
Embarking on a transformative journey of faith and self-discovery I will tread the ancient path of the Camino de Santiago, a sacred pilgrimage that has drawn pilgrims from all corners of the globe for centuries. This ancient route, also known as the Way of St. James, winds through breathtaking landscapes, charming villages, and historic sites, leading us towards the hallowed destination – the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

The pilgrimage is not just a physical endeavor; it is an opportunity for profound inner exploration, a chance to reconnect with the Living God through his magnificent creational beauty, and an opportunity to meditate on the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the writing of the Book of Psalms.

For over 1000 years, pilgrims from all over the world have walked the Camino Ways across Europe in their quest for spirituality. Making the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, they encountered a variety of people and beliefs, leading to friendship and new experiences. This continues today with the Camino de Santiago being the most well-known and well-loved walk in the world. More than just a walk, the Camino de Santiago is an unforgettable and unique journey for the body, mind and soul.
Why Choose the Camino de Santiago?

The Camino holds a unique place in the hearts of Christian pilgrims, offering a blend of challenges and rewards that lead to personal growth and spiritual rejuvenation. As one traverses this path, they are captivated by:

1. Historic Significance: Walking in the footsteps of countless pilgrims before, touching the living history of the Christian faith, witnessing the remnants of centuries-old locations and historical sites.

2. Natural Beauty: From lush meadows and rolling hills to rugged mountains and tranquil rivers, the Camino's diverse landscapes mirror the varied stages of our own spiritual journey.

3. Cultural Exchange: Interact with fellow pilgrims from around the world, sharing stories, experiences, and wisdom, enriching our understanding of spirituality's global tapestry.

4. Inner Reflection: Amidst the peaceful rhythm of walking, this journey has the added intentional focus to delve into the poetic verses of the Psalms, finding solace, inspiration, and guidance in their timeless words.

My Unique Approach: Psalms of the Journey

At each significant juncture of the Camino, I will read and reflect upon a corresponding Psalm, connecting the scripture's essence with the surroundings and circumstances of the day. I will capture video readings of all 150 Psalms to be available upon return.

This pilgrim’s prayer appears in the 12th Century Codex Calixtinus,
the first guide book for the Camino de Santiago.
O God, You called your servant Abraham from Ur in Chaldea,
watching over him in all his wanderings,
and guided the Hebrew people as they crossed the desert.
Guard these your children who, for the love of your Name,
make a pilgrimage to Compostela.
Be their companion on the way,
their guide at the crossroads,
their strength in weariness,
their defense in dangers,
their shelter on the path,
their shade in the heat,
their light in the darkness,
their comfort in discouragement,
and the firmness of their intentions;
that through your guidance,
they may arrive safely at the end of their journey and,
enriched with grace and virtue,
may return to their homes
filled with salutary and lasting joy.
Amen.
May the Lord always guide your steps and be your inseparable companion throughout your journey.
